Badge Maker: Custom Text / Special Characters Error (MagickTypeErrorException)
You can get an error when saving custom text in the Badge Maker.
This is most likely because you have special characters, accents, or non-ASCII symbols (like é, á, ö) in your Windows profile name.
Please follow these options to workaround this issue:
Option 1: Enable Windows UTF-8 Support
Windows has a built-in setting that forces native software libraries to read special characters correctly. This is usually the easiest fix and doesn't require moving files or changing accounts.
Open the Windows Start Menu, type Control Panel, and open it.
Click on Clock and Region, then click Region.
Navigate to the Administrative tab at the top.
Click the Change system locale... button.
Check the box next to "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support".
Click OK and Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
Note: this is a global Windows setting, it changes how text strings are handled system-wide. This can cause text in older, legacy software or certain niche games to look garbled (mojibake). It can also cause older command-line scripts (.bat files) to fail if they rely on standard regional code pages. If you notice other applications acting up after turning this on, simply uncheck the box, restart your PC, and try Option 2 instead.
Option 2: Use the Included PSD File (Bypass the Tool)
If the user prefers not to change system-wide Windows settings, they can bypass the Unity badge maker tool by editing the asset manually.
There is a .psd file included with the Badge configuration. If users have Photoshop or GIMP, they can download the Badge directly from their Furality account area on the website rather than through the Furality Asset Manager (FAM). From there, they can open the file and customize their text directly within their image editor.
